“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is God’s word.

Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.

To make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’

How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.

Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.”
